Malin:
Johanna, could you debunk the worst plastics-myth you know?
Johanna:
I think that must be the belief that there is good and bad plastics, because there are no such thing. When it ends up in nature, all plastic is bad, even if it's made out of, what is marketed as, biodegradable or bioplastics. In our nature, up in the north, it will not disappear. It will not degrade. Nothing disappears, actually, and it will disappear into smaller fractions, so you will lose sight of it, but it will never disappear.
Malin:
It almost sounds like the misconception of something that would say, poof, and then just disappear.
Johanna:
Yeah, exactly.
Malin:
So, that was a myth-busting of plastics, as something that would just go away. But, as Johanna said, it will be there, broken down into smaller and smaller fractions.
So small, that they cannot be seen by the naked eye, but they won't disappear - even though, we can't see them.
